Raiders Raided In Plymouth

BBL Championship

Plymouth Raiders 70-75 London Lions (18-25, 32-38, 47-57)

Sunday 5th November; Plymouth Pavillions.

London Lions made it two from two on the weekend after seeing off a late fightback from Plymouth Raiders to pick up the road win.

The Lions win followed on from Friday's victory over Glasgow Rocks at the Copper Box and sees the team move to 5-3.

The Lions made a strong start early on as they held their hosts from scoring whilst Justin Robinson and Brandon Peel led the charge. Good work from Paul Guede defensively also aided the lead at the end of the first quarter, 18-25.

With Plymouth being held to 36% shooting from the floor and a season low 17% from the three point line, the Lions continued to shift through the gears. Overall seven Lions scoring seven or more points in the game. Half time arrived with the lead at 6 points, 32-38.

The third quarter was slow to get going after Raider’s Neil Watson hit a three, however Peel having a good game fed William Hall inside for two as the Lions zipped the ball around extending the lead to 10 points going into the final quarter, 47-57.

With the Lions easing down, Raiders suddenly found a run as they visited the free throw line, then a three-pointer connected, Coach Karol quickly re-jigged his line up as Latinovic hit a turnaround jump shot and Robinson drove inside to see the side home.

Justin Robinson had another starring role for the Lions with an all-round display of 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Brandon Peel added 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The Lions don’t play next weekend before resuming at Bristol on the 17th of November. Do watch out for dates for the BBL Cup Semi-Final and the first round of the BBL Trophy.
