Fab Five For Cap'n Joe

London Lions Captain, Joe Ikhinmwin makes it five straight seasons after signing for the Lions once more.

Fan favourite Ikhinmwin joined the Lions in 2013 and has been an ever present since and will line up once again at the Copper Box Arena. This past season the London native averaged 7 points a game 0n 57% shooting from the floor whilst corralling just under 4 rebounds per outing.

Lion’s Head Coach, Mariusz Karol, was happy to re-sign the London-born forward, “I know Joe well, he is a hard worker that gives all he has in all situations, he is a good spirit for the team, also his experience in the BBL will benefit us.” Ikhinmwin spent four years at South Carolina State University where he averaged six points and three boards in his final two years before graduating in 2012.

A season with the Newcastle Eagles in 2012 then saw him sign for his hometown club. Joe, was delighted to not only be back but to be in position to be part of the club’s exciting plans. “It’s a great honour to be returning to the Lions for my 5th season with the club. Every year we get closer to reaching the goals set when the club made the move to London and I'm determined to be part of the team that accomplishes it.

I'm excited to be working with a new head coach, especially one I have worked with in the past and for whom I have a high level of respect for, his style of basketball and the new attitude that I think will come with his extensive European background.

The Lions continue to be a driving force for improving the London community and this is something that is really important to me off the court; Helping to improve the local areas as well as raising awareness and promoting basketball to the next generation of athletes “.

Player Sponsorship is now available for Captain Ikhinmwin which includes 2 VIP Courtside Seats, the ‘shirt off the back’, photo and advertising. For more info email
